The Heritage Motoring Club of India invites contributions to the following initiatives:
(i) Support and Medical Treatment of Elderly Mechanics
While we are driven by passion to preserve our Vintage and Classic Motoring Heritage, not much has been done to appreciate and support mechanics and technicians who have tirelessly worked to preserve our motoring heritage. In reality, the restoration of our timeless machines could not have been possible without the painstaking efforts of veteran mechanics who have shared an equal passion with us over the years.
Many of these mechanics and technicians have now retired and are struggling for a livelihood. Their quest for continued restoration and maintenance of Vintage and Classic Automobiles has been restricted by physical limitations of old age and ill-health.
HMCI has identified certain mechanics and is committed to support and provide financial and medical assistance to these great “automotive engineers”.
We request contributions of a minimum of Rs. 1,000 towards the support and medical treatment of elderly mechanics. The next issue of Classic Wheels will carry a report on Donors and the support provided by HMCI.
(ii) Scholarship for Deserving Children
HMCI is committed to positively changing the lives of deserving children of mechanics who do not have the financial means for higher education of their children. We have identified deserving children of mechanics and propose to support them by providing scholarships, healthcare and education fees support thereby giving them an opportunity to emerge as self-reliant and productive members of our society.
We request contributions of a minimum of Rs. 1,000 to support deserving children to fulfill their dreams. The next issue of Classic Wheels will carry a report on Donors and the support provided by HMCI.
(iii) The National Museum of Vintage and Classic Automobiles of India
HMCI is working with the Government of India to develop The National Museum of Vintage and Classic Automobiles of India in order to share our passion of Indian and indeed world “history on wheels”.
The National Museum of Vintage and Classic Automobiles of India will be modeled on the prestigious Vintage and Classic Automobile museums in Europe and America.
The Aims and Objectives of The National Museum of Vintage and Classic Automobiles of India is encapsulated in the following:
• To Preserve the Vintage and Classic Motoring Heritage of India for generations to come
• To Provide a Platform to the People of India to share in this Heritage and understand its significance
• To Propagate the Passion for Vintage and Classic Motoring in India as a sporting and tourism activity
The HMCI has already submitted a detailed proposal to the Government of India requesting a site for The National Museum of Vintage and Classic Automobiles of India. The Government of India has given a positive response and we expect allocation of 10,000 square yards in Delhi for our Museum. The proposed National Museum will exhibit over 100 Vintage and Classic automobiles and automobilia.
Several corporate sponsors have committed substantial funds for the development of the National Museum. HMCI looks forward to an equally enthusiastic support from readers to raise funds for the construction and development of the National Museum of Vintage and Classic Automobiles of India and requests a contribution of a minimum of Rs. 10,000 towards the development of The National Museum of Vintage and Classic Automobiles of India.
The next issue of Classic Wheels will carry a report on Donations that have been received. Donors who do not wish their names to be published may notify us in advance.
All donations must be made by Cheque, Demand Draft/Pay Order in favour of “Heritage Motoring Club of India”.
